Time Management
Your time is more valuable and less abundant than you think. Here’s some advice on how to spend it wisely:
-
Balance is key. As cliche as that may sound, it really is. Yes, you should invest time in your studying and assignments, but don’t waste your high school years locked away in your room with your face in a textbook. And even amongst your different academic subjects, it is crucial that you set aside time for each of them, not overspending time on one while neglecting another.
-
With mobile devices and access to so many social media sites, you may wonder where much of your time has gone. Assess yourself: are you really only spending an hour on Facebook? How many texts do you really send in a day? And how much of this is actually necessary? As wonderful as these things are, they can easily suck up tons of your time. Don’t let them!
-
Video games...Yes, the empire you’re constructing in Minecraft is mind-blowingly amazing. And yes, it’s great that you’re on your way to beating the world record in Super Smash Bros. Just know when to disconnect from these virtual worlds of awesome and get back to reality.

Procrastinating: a short term solution with long term consequences. Don't do it! While this may be a piece of unrealistic advice, it's still important to point out that often the most successful and least-stressed students are those who get things done as soon as possible without waiting before the last minute. Procrastination is especially harmful when studying for tests. While you may do really well on a test by cramming the night before, this will in no way help you when preparing for your IB exams (what counts for your actual IB score). If you are going to procrastinate, don't take it lightly.
